Label Planet & Stikins ® & Trons ®: We Wish You All A Wonderfully Weird Halloween…

Yes, tonight is the night that ghouls and ghosts are free to roam the Earth and we hope you have a spooktacular time tonight!

Whether you’re donning your most delightfully devilish costume to scare your neighbours (go trick or treating) or raise some hell (have a party with friends), spending the night on (or behind) the sofa with a line-up of scary films, or simply stuffing your face with sugary goodness because, well, it’s Halloween – we hope you have a wickedly good time!

And, remember, if you want to make sure that your Halloween haul doesn’t get pilfered by a stray imp, why not add a Stikins ® name label to your bag, basket, bucket, or box to make sure everyone knows to keep their hands (or claws or paws) off your stash!

Stikins ® & Trons ®: To Use Stikins ® Or To Use Trons ® – That Is The Question…

https://www.stikins.co.uk/

Here at Label Planet, we supply two very different kinds of name labels, which means that we often get questions from customers who aren’t sure what the difference is or which ones are the best ones for their needs.

So, we’ve put together this quick-fire guide to help you decide!

What's The Difference & How Do They Work?
STIKINS ® are stick on name labels that simply peel off their backing sheet and stick onto the wash-care label of clothing (and other fabric items) or stick directly onto personal items. They are made of an extremely flexible plastic with an advanced adhesive. Each of these super slim labels measures 30mm wide by 15mm high and is a white label printed with a bold black font, which means they are easy to read when they are needed but are unobtrusive and discreet when they are not needed. They’re also very smooth, which means they won’t cause any discomfort if they happen to brush against skin when labelled items of clothing are worn.

TRONS ® are iron on name transfers that work in the same way as the transfers used to add designs to T-shirts; each label is made up of a single, extremely thin, layer of material that is impregnated with ink (to form the printed name or information that you want to be displayed) – during application, the transfer fuses and bonds with the material of the item being labelled to effectively become a part of the item itself. This creates a completely permanent name label on any fabric item, with the white background and bold black font making it easy to find and read when needed.

What Items Can They Be Used To Label?
STIKINS ® can be applied to pretty much ANYTHING. They can be used to label any fabric item with a wash-care label as well as personal items, such as bags and shoes, lunch boxes and water bottles, books and stationery kits, or phones and tablets. If you want to label fabric items (such as clothing, bedding and linens, or even toys), you should always apply your Stikins ® to the wash-care label; this is because fabric items are made using so many different material blends it would be impossible for us to test our adhesive on all of them. Instead our name labels have been tested on wash-care labels, which are usually made with one specific type of material. Applying them to the wash-care label also means that the labels tend to be discretely tucked out of the way until they are needed.

The ONLY items that they aren’t much use for are items like socks, which don’t have a wash-care label and are designed to flex around the foot as they are put on, taken off, or worn – this means that they don’t have a stable surface for the adhesive to bond with, which means that the name labels will tend to peel up or fall off.

TRONS ® can only be applied to fabric items and should be applied directly onto the material of these items (as they don’t tend to bond well with the glossy finish found on most wash-care labels).

How Do I Apply Them?
STIKINS ® simply stick in and stay in; all you need to do is carefully peel each name label off its backing sheet and apply it to the wash-care of your fabric items or directly onto any other personal items you wish to label.

To get the best possible results from your Stikins ®:
Apply them to the wash-care label of fabric items and wash new items of clothing before you apply your name labels. Leave your labelled items for 24 hours before you wash them for the first time to allow the adhesive to fully strengthen and set. When applying Stikins ® onto shoes, you should always apply them onto the side wall or beneath the tongue; if you apply them directly below the heel of the foot, the friction generated by movement will cause the print to rapidly disintegrate and wear away.

TRONS ® require a little more time (and a lot more patience) but are supplied with a simple six-step set of Instructions For Use leaflet to help guide you through the process:
  1. Find a hard flat surface (not an ironing board), turn the clothes inside out, and set your iron to its maximum heat setting (do not use steam).
  2. Cut or tear your silicon sheet into pieces slightly larger than a single name transfer (each piece should be used once).
  3. Put your garment on the edge of the surface and put a transfer face up on the very edge.
  4. Put a piece of your silicon on top of the label (shiny side down).
  5. Iron over the silicon paper with the tip of your iron; press down firmly and move your iron from side to side for 25 seconds.
  6. Remove the silicon paper (while still hot); allow your transfer to cool and then gently check if the label is completely fused into the item – if it is not, repeat step 5.
So, which should I choose?
It is entirely your decision but you should consider the following:
  • If you need to label a mix of fabric and non-fabric items, Stikins ® are the more cost-effective choice because you can buy one pack to label everything.
  • If you only need to label fabric items, you can choose to just order Stikins ® or just Trons ® but do remember that Trons ® will always require a bit more time and patience to apply correctly.
To place an order, visit our Stikins ® Product Page or our Trons ® Product Page. You can also find out more about our two name label products by visiting our dedicated information pages: Stikins ® Information & Trons ® Information.

Label Planet: FAQ – How Do I Find The Right Template To Print My Labels?

https://www.labelplanet.co.uk/

When it comes to printing your own labels, it’s really important to get hold of the right template to help make the whole process go a whole lot smoother. Templates come a variety of formats and it can get a bit confusing if you’re new to the world of DIY labels – hopefully this blog post should help to make things clearer!

Finding A Template
There are THREE ways to get a label template:
  1. Use a BUILT IN template; some software has a selection of templates built in, which you can use to design and print labels.
  2. DOWNLOAD a template; we have created free templates for ALL of our label sizes so that you can download the one you need from our website.
  3. MAKE your own template; some software will allow you to create a template simply by entering the measurements of your labels. We have created a template information page for all of our label sizes, which includes detailed size and layout measurements that you can use as a starting point if you wish to make your own label template.
Built-In Templates
If your software has label templates built in, all you need to do is select the template that is compatible with (the same as) the labels you want to print. Avery templates are the most commonly used example and a number of our label sizes are the same as Avery sizes, which means you can use a built in Avery template to print labels that you have bought from us.

All of our label sizes that have compatible Avery codes will have the relevant Avery codes listed along with their Label Planet codes – on the product page, product packaging, and template information page. Alternatively, you can visit our List of Label Planet Sizes With Compatible Avery Codes page to see if your Label Planet labels have any compatible Avery codes.

If you have an Avery code in mind and want to see if we supply labels that are the same size, you can use our List of Avery Codes With Compatible Label Planet Sizes page to look up your Avery code and see if we do supply that label size.

If you want to use a built in Avery template, you may need to first select Avery A4/A5 (or Avery Zweckform) as the label vendor/manufacturer to view the Avery templates (as your software may include templates for a variety of brands).

Downloading A Template – Choosing A File Format
Digital files can be created in a variety of formats, which can then be read and edited by specific kinds of software. Our templates, for example, are available in TWO file formats:
.docx Word Templates – the .docx file format is used for Word documents but can be read and edited by other types of Word Processing software (such as Pages or LibreOffice).
.pdf PDF Templates – the .pdf file format is a more generic format that can be read and edited by a variety of graphics packages (such as InDesign or Photoshop).

You need to choose a template with a file format that can be edited by the software that you have access to for the purpose of designing your labels. Please note that some software may be able to read a file format but NOT edit it (for example: the standard version of Adobe Reader can read but not edit the .pdf file format – so you can open PDF templates in Adobe Reader but you can't make any changes).

Downloading A Template – Choosing A Format
Here at Label Planet, we offer the following formats:
Portrait & Landscape: while the majority of label designs will work best in portrait format, there are some occasions where it is easier to work in landscape – so we provide our customers with options for both!
Text Box & Mirrored: if you only want to add text you can use our Text Box Word templates, while if you are printing transparent labels and want the text to be readable when viewed from the reverse side (e.g. if you are sticking labels on the inside of a window but want them to be legible from the outside) you can use our Mirrored Text Box Word templates.
Bleed: these templates allow you to add oversized coloured backgrounds and images to your labels to prevent any white edging around the outsides of your labels.

Downloading A Template – Top Tips
If you are given the option to “Save” or “Open” your template, select “Save”. Next open the software you want to use to design your labels and use that software to open your saved template (File > Open); this will allow your software to confirm that it can read and edit the file properly (and make any necessary conversions if it can’t) – before you add your design.

If you can’t edit your template at all, it has probably been temporarily locked for security reasons; look for a (yellow) banner going across the top of the page and click on the “Enable Editing” button to unlock the file. If you are using a Word template and cannot see the outlines of your labels, Table Gridlines are turned off. To turn them on, left click once somewhere in the middle of the page, select the Table Tools “Layout” tab at the top of the page, and click “View Gridlines” (Word 2007 onwards, Word For Mac 2016); alternatively, select the “Table Layout” tab, and click “Gridlines” (Word For Mac 2011).

If you are using a Word template to print round labels or oval labels, don’t panic if you can’t see a grid of circles or ovals; Word isn’t capable of creating such a template and so a compromise of squares and rectangles is used instead, so that each square or rectangle represents one of the round or oval labels (with the outermost points of the circle or oval touching the four sides of the square or rectangle).

Downloading A Template – From Label Planet’s Website
There are TWO ways to find the template you need on our website:
  1. Navigate to the product page of the labels you have bought from us and click on the “Label Templates And Printing Information” link to view ALL of the available templates for that label size.
  2. Visit our Template Section; select your label shape from the options provided and then select your labels from the table at the top of the page.
You can find more help and advice on designing and printing your own labels in our Help Section, which includes our Guide to Designing & Printing Labels, Top Tips, and our FAQs page. If you find that you encounter a particular problem that you can’t resolve or have a quick question about label printing, remember you can always get in touch with our Customer Service Team who will do their best to provide a solution.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Free Easy Fundraising With Stikins Name Labels From Label Planet

https://www.stikins.co.uk/

We’ve reached that time of year once more where we start pulling together our records to set up this year’s batch of commission cheques to send out to our existing fundraising partners.

If you aren’t already a member of our fundraising scheme, you might be curious about how our scheme works and how it benefits schools and PTAs – which makes this the ideal blog post for you!

EASY Fundraising
Here’s how it works:
1) You REGISTER with us by filling in our one-step registration form online or calling our Customer Service Team.
2) We allocate a unique FUNDRAISING NUMBER to your school or PTA (or nursery or sports club or group etc).
3) Any order we receive where that fundraising number is quoted will count towards your commission total and we will keep track of your commission earnings and send out a commission cheque once a year in October.

And that’s it! You don’t need to re-register every year and you don’t need to set aside time and resources to participate. It’s entirely up to you how much time and effort you put into the scheme – if you like, you can simply register and then forget all about it, although this won’t result in a very big cheque at the end of the commission year. As with everything, the more you put in, the more you get out – which is why we’ve put together a Fundraising Guide and Booster Plan to provide you with a simple list of small, quick, and free things that you can do to make a big difference to your commission total.

FREE Fundraising
There is no fee to join our commission scheme and no ongoing costs to participate. We provide all of our partners with a variety of completely FREE resources that can be used to let parents know about the scheme (and the fundraising number they need to quote) to help them boost the amount of commission they earn, including:
  • Free Fundraising Pack (includes samples of our labels & leaflets and a copy of our Fundraising Guide & Booster Plan)
  • Free Parent Leaflets
  • Free Poster
  • Example Letters To Parents
  • Free Samples For Your Pupils/Members (May, June, & September only)

EFFECTIVE Fundraising
All you have to do is make sure that parents know how to order (and what fundraising number to quote) to earn up to 30% commission – the highest name labels commission rate in the UK. We handle everything else – from processing and despatching orders to keeping track of and paying out your commission each year. Our scheme gives you access to fundraising that just works; parents can order from us anytime all year round and your commission will automatically accrue over the commission year. You may even find yourself with some extra time and resources on your hands as more students arrive on school property with their belongings clearly and securely labelled – reducing the mountain of Lost Property that you have to handle.

If you would like to find out more our commission scheme, please click on the purple “Fundraising” button on our website to take a look through all of our Fundraising pages and resources. To register, click on the “Fundraising” button and select “School Requests” to use our online registration form OR contact our Customer Service Team to register by phone.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Half Term Is Nearly Here But Never Fear; We’ve Got Name Labels For ALL Your Kids’ Gear!

https://www.stikins.co.uk/

Yes, the first half term of the school year is almost already over and we’re hurtling with ever increasing speed towards Christmas, which means that it’s a good time to slow down and take stock of your children’s pile of school uniform and equipment to see if you need to make a half term (top up) order of name labels to see you through the next few weeks (and, hopefully, beyond!).

You might already be a name label convert who simply needs to stock up their stash, has been handed a new list of required uniform and/or equipment for the next half term, has found a few items that somehow escaped your September labelling session, or perhaps you need to replace a few items that have (somehow) already been outgrown or damaged beyond repair (in some apparently inexplicable manner). Alternatively, you might be someone who hasn’t tried name labels yet but wants to give them a go after a disastrous half term of things going missing.

Here at Label Planet, we despatch all of our name label orders on the same day (Monday to Friday, up to 3pm) so you can rest assured that your name labels will be on their way to you in no time at all – and you can get everything labelled in a flash and then get on with making the most of your half term holiday.

You can place an order online anytime or give us a call (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm); our Stikins ® name labels are the perfect name label solution for busy families who have a lot of stuff but not a lot of time to spend labelling it all. Our multipurpose name labels simply stick on and stay on – and you can label clothing and fabric items (apply your labels to the wash-care label only) or onto a whole range of personal items and school kit, including bags and shoes (do not apply your labels beneath the heel of the foot), books and stationery kits, P.E. equipment, arts and music supplies, and phones and tablets.

Visit our website now to place a quick and easy online order or contact our Customer Service Team to place an order by phone.

Label Planet: Give Your Invitations & Decorations A Haunting Halloween Or Blazing Bonfire Theme With Labels From Label Planet

https://www.labelplanet.co.uk/

With Halloween just two weeks away and Bonfire Night not that far off, you might well be in the midst of planning a fantastically frightening Halloween party or a spectacular night of (bon)fires and fireworks for Bonfire Night – and, if you’re making your own invitations or decorations this year, we might well have a few labels that will give your holiday projects that perfect finishing touch!

KRAFT LABELS
These labels are made with brown Kraft paper that has a ribbed finish for a brilliantly subtle touch of pattern and texture. Kraft paper is a wonderful addition to any homemade project, whether you’re making cards and invitations or party decorations. The natural finish of these labels makes them an especially perfect choice for bonfire themed projects.
All of our Kraft Labels can be handwritten or printed with either an inkjet printer or a laser printer.

TRANSPARENT LABELS
Our range of transparent labels might not seem like an obvious choice for Halloween or Bonfire Night BUT they’re an excellent way to add a creative twist to your projects by producing a “floating” effect for your designs. You can use them to make address labels with Halloween or Bonfire Night inspired designs OR use them to add addresses to invitations that have been printed with a Halloween or Bonfire Night theme (so you don’t have to plaster a massive label all over your carefully chosen stationery).

Our removable transparent labels are also a perfect way to create temporary decorations that you can stick around your venue, on walls and doors, windows and floors, and any furniture in between! For example, you could make cobwebs, blood stains, or ghostly apparitions to give your Halloween party a truly terrifying tone OR create your own indoor firework display to match the events going on outside on Bonfire Night.
Our transparent labels include options for permanent and removable adhesives, gloss and matt finishes, and inkjet labels and laser labels.

COLOURED LABELS & FLUORESCENT COLOURED LABELS
If you’re looking for labels that will fit into your holiday colour scheme, we’ve got some perfect options for both Halloween and Bonfire Night. For a more subtle tone, you could try our pastel colours, which include crimson-red, orange-red, and yellow for that autumnal feel (as well as blue and green if you’re going for more unusual Halloween colours).

Alternatively, if you want to make sure your party or event is full of colour, you should definitely check out our range of fluorescent colours, which bring an instant burst of creative colour to any project – we’ve got options for red, orange, yellow, green, and magenta, which should come in handy for both your Halloween and Bonfire Night events.
We supply SEVEN pastel colours, which can be handwritten or printed with either an inkjet printer or a laser printer, and FIVE fluorescent colours, which can be handwritten or printed with a laser printer.

GOLD LABELS & SILVER LABELS
Firm favourites for the autumn (and, we’ll be honest, winter) season, our gold paper labels and silver paper labels have a wonderful semi-gloss textured finish that has a subtle touch of festive sparkle – which makes them ideal for this time of year, whether you’re trying to add a supernatural shimmer to your Halloween festivities or a flame-like finish to your Bonfire Night celebrations.
These labels can be handwritten or printed with a laser printer.

Take a look at our List Of All Materials page to see if we’ve got any other labels to give you even more ideas for your holiday projects or simply visit our range pages to choose the label sizes you need and place an order:

Label Planet: Have You Heard About Our Free Label Sample Service?

https://www.labelplanet.co.uk/

Here at Label Planet, we know that choosing the right label for the job can be a crucial decision and, with so many different options available, it can be a difficult decision to get right.

This is why we offer a free label sample service so that our customers can request a sample of the labels they THINK are appropriate for their particular label application and test them out in their actual application before they place an order. This way you can check that the material you choose has the appropriate finish for your application (whether you’re going for a dazzling and decorative finish or something a bit more subtle and understated) and that the material and adhesive will function correctly in the environment(s) associated with your application (whether they’ll be stored in a variety of different locations, exposed to different temperatures, or even used outside or in damp indoor conditions).

To request a sample all you need to do is fill in our online sample request form or get in touch with our Customer Service Team. If you are using our online form, please try to be as accurate and detailed as possible with the information you provide – this will allow us to make sure that the samples we send are the best possible options for your particular label application. If you aren’t sure what sort of label you need, try to describe your application in as much detail as possible so we can make a recommendation based on the information you provide.

You can also request a sample if you know what labels you want to buy BUT you’d like to have a few extra sheets on hand so you can practice getting your print just perfect before you put your purchased labels into your printer.

You can find our Sample Request Form on our website here, while our Customer Service Team contact information can be found on our Contact Us page here.

Label Planet: FAQ: How Do I Find Out What Your Labels Cost?

https://www.labelplanet.co.uk/

All of the prices for our labels are listed on our website and we’ve tried to set things up so that it’s as simple and straightforward as possible to find out how much a particular label costs (and to buy!).

Firstly, we’ve taken the decision to make sure that all of the prices are on our website are ALL-INCLUSIVE; every price includes both VAT and standard UK delivery, which means that the price you see is the price you pay (and you won’t get a nasty shock at the end of the checkout process).

The only time you would need to pay more is if you require non-standard UK delivery.
We offer a range of upgraded delivery options, which do carry an additional shipping charge – this is the amount that the Royal Mail or our carrier service charges us. You will also need to pay extra if you require delivery to the Republic of Ireland or if you are ordering 500+ sheets for delivery to a non-UK Mainland address (e.g. Northern Ireland or Islands With UK Postcodes/Extended Postcodes) via carrier.
For any questions or queries about non-standard delivery options – or to place an order with one of these delivery options – please contact our Customer Service Team who will be happy to help.

Next, we’ve created a price break system, which means that if you are ordering larger quantities, the price per unit is much less than if you order smaller quantities. Our price break levels are indicated on the product page for each label product that we sell, so all you need to do is select the quantity that you need (or that best suits your budget) and add it to your basket.

Our products are grouped onto “Range Pages”; each product type that we supply has its own range page, which provides more information about each product range (including material specifications, common uses etc) along with a complete list of all of the label sizes available for that particular material. You simply click on the image of the product you are interested in to view the product page and price list for that product.

If you are struggling to find a price for a particular product you can always contact our Customer Service team for advice; we also recommend getting in touch if you want to order a mix of colours OR if you have a bit of a shopping list – as we may be able to offer you a slightly better price than if you order online.

Visit our LIST OF ALL LABELS page to view all of the label ranges available from Label Planet and to find out more about (or to buy) a label product within that range; view our Contact Us page for all of our contact information, so you can get in touch with any questions or queries that you might have about our prices, delivery options, and placing orders.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Earn Commission With Stikins ® Name Labels – The Easiest Fundraising Scheme You’ll Set Up This Year!

https://www.name-labels.com/

At Label Planet, we’ve been running a fundraising scheme for over 12 years, which allows schools and PTAs (and other groups) to earn commission on orders of name labels.

Like our name labels, we’ve set up our fundraising scheme to be as simple and easy to use as possible, requiring a minimal amount of time and effort from schools and PTAs, who have far more important things to be getting on with, rather than keeping a constant eye on a simple fundraising scheme.

How It Works:
We allocate a unique fundraising number to your school (or PTA) and any order that we receive where that number is quoted will generate commission for your school. We keep track of the commission you’ve earned and at the end of the commission year (which runs from 1st October to 30th September) we send you your commission earnings by cheque – which you can then put towards the fundraising project of your choice.

What You Need To Do:
  1. Let us know that you want to join our fundraising scheme
(Contact our Customer Service Team or fill in our online Registration Form)
  1. Let parents know about the scheme and your fundraising number
And that’s it!

Our one step registration process gives you instant access to fundraising that runs all year round – with no need to re-register each and every year – and your commission cheque will arrive automatically each October. There’s no fee to join and no ongoing costs to take part – in fact, we also provide schools and PTAs with a number of resources to help them promote the scheme to parents, all of which are completely free.

We handle everything else, from receiving and processing orders throughout the year, to logging and tracking your commission, so there’s really nothing for you to worry about. It’s completely up to you how much time you want to spend on promoting the scheme to parents and there are a number of quick and easy ways to get the message out so that you can get on with other things.

For example:
  • Request parent leaflets to hand out to parents so they know how to order (and what fundraising number to quote).
  • Add a link to your website so that parents can reach our site quickly and easily (increasing the number of orders that count towards your commission total) AND double your commission rate to 30%.
  • Send a letter, email, or text to parents to explain how the fundraising scheme works, how name labels help to prevent the problem of lost property, and perhaps even to give a bit of detail about the specific fundraising project(s) that they will be supporting by purchasing name labels.
If you would like to find out more about our Fundraising Scheme, please visit our Fundraising Information Pages by clicking on the purple “Fundraising” button on the left hand side of our website. Use our “School Requests” page to register or get in touch with our Customer Service Team for more information, advice, or to register today!

When it comes to printing your own labels, the accuracy of your template is undoubtedly one of the most important factors in determining how well they turn out. Another major factor, however, is the printer that you use AND how efficiently you use it; some printers offer specific features that can vastly improve the print quality and accuracy of alignment that you can achieve when printing your own labels and ALL printers can turn the process of printing your own labels into a nightmare if you don’t set them up correctly.

This blog post lists a few of the ways that your printer can help (and hinder) the process of printing your own labels.
  1. THE MEDIA BYPASS TRAY
The media bypass tray is a secondary tray, usually found just above or below your main paper tray; the media bypass tray is designed specifically to process media made using thicker materials than standard sheets of paper (like labels!) and offers a straighter path through your printer by bypassing at least one set of rollers – this improves the accuracy of your printer’s alignment by reducing the chances of your label sheets rotating slightly as they go through each set of rollers.
  1. THE START PRINT POSITION & THE UNPRINTABLE AREA
Ever printer has its own level of print accuracy and starting print position (i.e. the place on the A4 sheet that your printer starts printing from); if you bear these two factors in mind, you can adjust your template to suit your printer specifically, which will allow you to design around these factors and create the best possible (and most accurate) template for your particular printer.
Similarly, most desktop printers are unable to print the full area of an A4 sheet (which produces a kind of border around the edge of your label sheets called the “unprintable area”), which means that if you are aware of where your printer can and cannot print, you can tailor your design to make sure it all falls within the “printable area” of your particular printer.
  1. THE PRINT SETTINGS
Most printers offer a variety of print settings and properties to choose from, which means that you may well be able to improve the print quality and accuracy of alignment that you can get simply by making sure you use the best possible combination of settings available to you.
The key settings to check are any that relate to the Media Type or Media Weight; these settings will automatically adjust the way your printer prints to suit a particular medium type and/or weight – with some printers including a specific “Labels” setting that should be ideal (as an alternative, we recommend choosing “Heavy Paper”).
There are a few other settings that may not improve the print you get BUT will absolutely destroy the alignment of your template if they are wrong. You should therefore always check the following as well:
    • Check that the Page/Media Size/Layout is set to A4.
    • Check that no scaling options (such as a percentage or “Fit To Page”) are selected.
    • Check that no options such as “Ignore Printer Settings” or “Use Driver Settings” are selected.
  1. THE PRINTING METHOD
Desktop printers tend to be either laser printers or inkjet printers; some label products are tailored to suit ONE of these printing processes only, which means that to get the best out of your labels you should make sure that you choose labels that are compatible with your type of printer.
All of our label products will have their label compatibility listed on their range page, product page, and product packaging. You should NOT ignore this compatibility listing; if you print laser labels with an inkjet printer or inkjet labels with a laser printer the best you can hope for is poor quality print that smears or flakes away – at worst you may end up damaging your printer.
  1. THE SPECIFICATION
Every single model of printer will have its own unique set of specifications, which reflect the type and level of printing that a specific model is capable of and designed for. For example, more basic models of printer will be limited in the types and weights of materials that they can print onto successfully. Generally speaking, the more expensive the model, the higher the specification should be; a cheaper “All-In-One” model is designed to do a number of tasks to a reasonable standard and will be limited in the types of materials that it can process, while dedicated printers will be designed to do one task (printing) to a very high standard and will be able to perform that task across a range of material types and weights.
Ideally, if you are printing labels, you should try to use a printer that has label-specific specifications, such as the presence of a media bypass tray, a specific “Labels” print setting (or settings), and the ability to process a variety of materials and thicknesses. You can find ALL of this information about any model of printer by checking the manufacturer’s manual (usually available from the manufacturer’s website).
AND ONE THING THAT YOUR PRINTER CANNOT IMPROVE:
Even if you’ve chosen the perfect printer, set it up properly, and carefully selected the perfect combination of print settings, your labels are never going to print out properly if you don’t take your time setting up your template.

This is why we always recommend doing a test print onto blank paper first; you can confirm that your printer is correctly set up AND double check that your template is correctly aligned before you start printing onto your actual label sheets.
