One of the most common questions we get from parents is “how many name labels should I buy?”.
The simple response is that it depends on how many things you think you’ll need (or want) to label but, as many of our customers have discovered, once you start labelling things, it’s quite difficult to stop and you might find that you simply run out!
Our name labels are available in four pack sizes as follows:
Stikins ®: 30 labels / 60 labels / 90 labels / 120 labels (in white or silver)
OR 120 labels / 240 labels (white AND silver)
Trons ®: 35 labels / 70 labels / 105 labels / 140 labels
[although you can, of course, purchase multiple packs if you think our biggest packs simply aren’t going to be enough!]
If you’re not sure exactly how many labels you will need you can always buy a few name labels now and then come back and place another order if you run out – all of our orders are made and despatched same day (Mon-Fri, where orders are received by 3pm), so you won’t have to wait long for those extra labels.
The alternative is to buy one of our bigger packs and – if you don’t need to use all of them at once, you can safely store the rest away for when you next need them. This option is more cost effective than buying lots of small packs and our products will retain their original quality for up to two (Stikins ®) or five (Trons ®) years – all you need to do is make sure you keep your name labels in their original packaging and store them somewhere safe (in a dry place, out of direct sunlight, preferably at room temperature).
Visit our Parent FAQ page for more answers to Frequently Asked Questions, or jump straight to our product pages (Stikins ® name labels / Trons ® name transfers) to place your order now.
If you’ve never created a template for printing your own labels before it can be quite a daunting process to go through on your own. At Label Planet, we try to provide our customers with as much backup as they need to get them up and running (and printing their own labels). With this in mind, this blog is all about how to get started with a brand new label template.
STEP 1: Getting Hold Of The Right Template
Obviously, the first thing to do is to get hold of (or make!) a template that is suitable for the labels you need to print. At Label Planet, we’ve put together a set of templates for each label size that we offer, so the simplest thing to do is to download a template from our website.
You can find the template you need in one of two ways:
- Visit our Template Section, select the shape of label you are printing, and then find your product in the list. You can then download either a Word or PDF template on this page or click on the “More Info” link to view ALL of the templates available for that size.
- Visit the product page of the labels that you have purchased and click on the “Label Templates And Printing Information” link.
As an alternative to downloading a template from our site, you can also choose to set up your own template or use an existing template that is compatible with our label sizes and products (e.g. an Avery template). To set up your own template, we recommend visiting the Template Information Page for the labels you want to print (by following option 2 above) and then using the measurements there as a guide for your template.
To use a compatible Avery template that is built in to the software you want to use, you will first need to confirm that your labels have a compatible Avery code (this information is also listed on the Template Information Page for each label product), and then locate that code in the options listed in your software. Make sure you select “Avery A4/A5” as the label vendor and please note that different software (and different versions of software) will contain different lists of built in templates.
STEP 2: Start Your Design In The Top Left Corner
Unless you’re creating a set of labels where every single label is different, the best way to create a label template is to work on your design in the top left label and then (when you’re happy with your design) use copy and paste to fill in the rest of the labels.
If your design contains multiple elements (e.g. a mixture of text and images), we highly recommend starting with your background and working into the foreground. You should also take care to check the default style and formatting options that are applied to each layer or object that you add to make sure all of the elements in your design sit together in the right position (rather than jumping around your template).
If you are working with a Word template, you can find all of the style and formatting options for an item by left clicking on that item once – this will add a tab at the top of the page called “Format” (beneath a coloured tab that says “Drawing Tools” or “Picture Tools” depending on the type of item you have selected), which will contain all of the tools available for editing that item.
STEP 3: Testing Your Template
While you might think that the next step would be to go ahead and print your labels, we actually recommend adding one extra step and taking the time to do a quick test print of your template. Even if you’ve taken hours to carefully set up and check your template over, what you see onscreen won’t necessarily be what you see when you press print – which is why you should put in a blank sheet of paper first and print your template onto this sheet to test how well (or not) your template aligns with your labels. Hold the printout against a sheet of your labels and if there are any issues with the alignment you can correct these issues before printing onto your labels.
You should always do the following before you print your labels (and your test print):
- Put your blank labels or blank sheet of paper into the media bypass tray of your printer (if it has one).
- Go through your printer’s settings (click on “Printer Properties” or “Printing Preferences”) to make sure that the page size is set to A4 (and nothing else) and that no scaling options have been selected (e.g. “Fit To Page”).
Visit our Templates Section to find and download a template OR visit our Help Pages and Blog to find more help and advice on how to design and print your own labels.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Get Ready For Some Fun In The Sun (Or Dodging The Rainclouds) With Name Labels From Label Planet
Families across the country will be planning some Big Days Out to make the most of the summer holidays and that means getting your kids AND their stuff out and about and back again – hopefully without losing anything on the way.
Whether you’re heading out for an afternoon picnic, a Grand Day Out somewhere, or off on holiday, making sure that all of your children’s belongings stay with them the whole time can turn into a big worry. Adding a name label to those items is a quick and easy way to give yourself peace of mind, so that – if the worst should happen – those items are easy to return.
Our name labels are made with a white (or silver) background and bold black font so they’re really easy to find and read if an item gets lost. Our Stikins ® name labels can be stuck onto all kinds of items, including clothing, shoes and bags, and personal belongings, while our Trons ® name transfers are an iron-on product that creates a completely permanent name label on any fabric item. Both of our name label products have been tested against exposure to market leading sun creams and lotions to ensure that the print remains intact and completely legible even if your labels are exposed to these creams and lotions (or even if they simply end up being handled by sweaty hands or rubbing against sweaty feet).
We advise that you apply your Stikins ® onto the wash-care label of garments and fabric items to ensure that they remain firmly in place, while they should be applied under the tongue or on the side wall of shoes to protect the print against the friction generated underfoot as your child moves around.
You can add basic information (such as a name) to your belongings or you can opt to add a piece of contact information (such as a phone number) so that you can be contacted directly if those belongings are found.
Our name labels can survive repeat trips through the washing machine, tumble-drier, microwave, and dishwasher so they’re ideal for use on ANY items that you want to keep securely labelled EVEN after you’ve given them a thorough washing once they’ve made it back home (especially if your trip turns into “sunshine and showers” rather than “fun in the sun”).
Visit our information pages to find out more about our name labels or visit our product pages to read independent reviews and to buy your very own set of name labels:

Some of our customers have a very precise idea of the labels that they want to buy but struggle to find that exact combination anywhere. At Label Planet, we aim to supply our customers with as many different options (and combinations of options) as possible but, unfortunately, there are a few practical considerations that limit the number of label options we can supply:
- SPACE: sadly, our company name suggests a rather grander scale that that of our office and warehouse, which means that we simply don’t have the room to stock every possible label size and material combination.
- COST: the combinations that we DO supply are “standard” products that are manufactured in bulk on a regular basis – which means we can offer these products to our customers at great value prices. More unusual combinations tend to be made in smaller quantities and only as and when they are requested, which means they incur much higher manufacturing costs (and lead times).
- PRACTICALITY: we also have to consider the practical challenges created by certain combinations, which would make those combinations difficult to work with and therefore unsuitable for our customers’ applications. For example, we don’t supply extremely large or extremely small label sizes because the former tend to waste a lot of material and the latter have a high risk of peeling off their backing sheet as they are pulled around and between the rollers in desktop printers.
We aim to keep our website fully up to date with ALL of the label sizes, materials, and adhesive options that we supply, which means that if you can’t find the size/material/adhesive combination you have in mind on our website then we probably don’t offer that particular label product.
You can view ALL of our sizes, materials, and adhesives by visiting these four pages:
LABEL SIZES (sorted by width): Search By Label Width
LABEL SIZES (sorted by height): Search By Label Height
MATERIAL OPTIONS: List Of All Label Materials
ADHESIVE OPTIONS: List Of All Label Adhesives
You can find out if a particular combination is available in one of two ways:
SEARCH BY SIZE AND THEN MATERIAL (OR ADHESIVE)
Use our Search By Label Width or Label Height pages to find the label size that you want and click on the purple “Label Planet Code” link; this will take you to the product page for the standard matt white paper label version of that size – click on the “Label Templates And Printing Information” link to view more information about that size INCLUDING a list of all of the different material options available for that size.
SEARCH BY MATERIAL (OR ADHESIVE) AND THEN SIZE
Starting on our List Of All Label Materials or Label Adhesives pages, select the material or adhesive option that you are interested in by clicking on the purple “View Products” link; this will take you to the range page for that particular material or adhesive option, which provides more information about that material/adhesive along with a list of all of the available label sizes.
If I can’t find the label size and material combination I want on your website, can I request it as a bespoke option?
No – we don’t offer a bespoke label service. However, you may find that we have a similar label product that will do the job just as well and we’re more than happy to chat to customers to discuss their requirements and to try to find a suitable alternative.
Visit our Home Page to find all of our “Search By” and “List Of All” pages or visit our Contact Page to get in touch with our Customer Service Team to discuss your label requirements.

Traditionally name labels have only ever really been used to label school uniform (and really that’s the only thing that traditional iron on and sew in name labels are actually good for), but our Stikins ® are a truly inventive name label solution that’s perfect for modern day families and individuals who want their name labels to do even more!
These multipurpose name labels are made with incredibly advanced materials that allow them to adhere firmly and securely to all kinds of items, which means they can be used to label clothing and fabric items (where they should be applied to the wash-care label) AND pretty much any other item that you want to get labelled up.
Whether you’re off on an action-adventure holiday, a camping trip in the great outdoors, taking up a new sport or trying out a new hobby, or you simply want to make sure that all the creature comforts you’re taking with you stay safe, adding a name label to your belongings is a quick and easy way to keep them that extra bit safe in the event that your stuff gets mixed up or misplaced altogether.
Stikins ® are highly flexible, which means they’ll stick firmly in place on all kinds of surfaces and the bright white (or silver) background and bold, black font makes them extremely easy to spot and read when they’re needed, while they’re also small enough to be a completely discrete addition to your belongings.
They can be used to label any sporting equipment or camping gear that you need with you and can also be used to label up your bags and cases, as well as any shoes that you need to take with you (where they should be applied to the side wall or beneath the tongue to avoid the print disintegrating under the friction generated beneath your feet).
The print has also been tested against market leading sun creams and lotions, which are often made with ingredients that can cause print on other name label products to break down and disintegrate – so you can use these labels all summer long and the print will remain perfectly in place, whatever adventures you get up to.
To find out more about these brilliant labels, take a look at our Stikins ® Information Page; alternatively, if you’ve got stuff to get labelled and you’re ready to go, head over to our Stikins ® Product Page to order your Stikins ® now.
With the summer holidays coming into view, you might be planning on taking advantage of the longer days to finally get around to doing a few jobs that you’ve not yet got around to doing – and we have a some brilliant labels to help you get your errands done and dusted that little bit faster, so you have more time to relax and unwind.
Labels To – Colour Code Your Boxes & Belongings
Coloured labels are a quick and easy way to divide (and conquer) your mountain of stuff, whether you’re sorting out what belongs to whom or even deciding what’s “To Keep” and what’s “To Throw”. Our coloured labels can be printed (with an inkjet or a laser printer) or can be handwritten and you can choose between labels with a permanent adhesive (for permanent organisation) and a removable adhesive (for temporary labels that you can remove without damaging your belongings).
We Recommend: Pastel Coloured Labels & Removable Pastel Coloured Labels OR Fluorescent Labels (for a colour coded system that really stands out)
Labels To – Fine Tune Your Filing System
Whether you’ve got a wonderfully organised filing system already in place or you’ve got a stack of papers that desperately needs sorting out, we’ve got a great range of paper labels in all sorts of shapes and sizes that are perfect for labelling up files and folders, boxes and wallets, or whatever other devices you’re using to keep your paperwork under control (or perhaps just out of sight). All of these labels are made of matt white paper with a permanent adhesive and many are made with shapes and sizes that were designed specifically with storage and filing systems in mind (for example, we have three label sizes which were designed specifically for use on lever arch and box files).
We Recommend: Media Storage Labels
Labels To – Get Your Boxes & Storage Containers Sorted
If you’ve decided that the best way to get your stuff organised is to get it put into boxes, bags, and any other storage container you can find, it can be all too easy to forget what stuff you’ve put where. Adding a simple category label (or even a contents label) makes it quick and easy for you to see at a glance what you’ve got in each box.
We Recommend: Standard Paper Labels (for a basic label), Gloss Paper Labels (for a more decorative finish), Coloured Paper Labels (for a creative finish), or High Tack Paper Labels (for use on plastic or fabric containers that standard labels may struggle to stick to).
Labels To – Organise A Big Move (Around)
Whether you’re on the move this summer or you’ve decided that you want to shift everything around, getting your belongings organised makes things go a lot smoother, and we have a wonderful range of temporary labels that will help you get everything labelled neatly and clearly for the duration of your big move (around). These temporary labels are made with removable adhesives that provide enough grip while you need your labels to stay in place but then remove cleanly from the surface once they are no longer needed (without doing any damage or leaving behind any sticky adhesive residue).
We Recommend: Standard Removable Labels & Removable Coloured Labels
Labels To – Sort Out Your Digital Archive
Whether you’ve got a mammoth collection of CDs and DVDs to sort out or you simply want to get your all-important files backed up safely and securely, we got a variety of media labels to suit all sorts of storage devices. Many of our media labels were designed specifically to suit a particular type of storage device and we have label sizes for use on CDs and DVDs, data cartridges and diskettes, and even some to suit more traditional storage media, including audio cassettes and videos! So even if your collection includes a few old mix tapes and home videos, you’ll still be able to find the perfect label to get everything labelled up properly.
We Recommend: Media Storage Labels
Labels To – Take Control Of Your Diary
Whether you’ve got a notebook stuffed with “To-Do-Lists” or a chaotic family calendar hanging off the fridge, labels are a great way to take control and remind yourself of the big things (and little things) that you absolutely have to remember to do. Our smaller label sizes are perfect for giving yourself easy to spot reminders of important dates and “things to do”; especially our small coloured round labels, which are an ideal addition to any busy calendar or diary. You can choose between permanent labels (to make sure your reminders remain firmly in place) or removable labels (so you can update your calendar or diary as you get things crossed off your list!).
We Recommend: Pastel Coloured Paper Labels & Removable Paper Labels
To find the perfect label for your big summer project, get started by searching for your perfect label material on our “List Of All Label Materials” page or your perfect label size on our “Search By Width” and “Search By Height” pages.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Put An End To Your Mountain Of Lost Property With School Name Labels From Label Planet
One of the most common comments we receive from schools is how happy they are that they have less Lost Property to deal with once parents start using name label products.
While having to pay to replace lost items is a sore point for any parent (who most likely only purchased those items recently), Lost Property is a far bigger problem for schools, who have to waste time and resources dealing with the mountain of items that get lost around the school grounds. From finding a place to stash all those items to taking the time to put together “Lost Property Events” to (hopefully) reunite some items with their owners, dealing with Lost Property means teachers and members of staff are forced to waste precious time dealing with the fallout of an entirely preventable problem (instead of getting on with more important things). The entire process is made more problematic by the fact that most school uniform and equipment is entirely similar, if not identical, in appearance, which often means that children are reluctant to take items home from Lost Property on the off-chance that they’re actually taking somebody else’s stuff.
Name labels are a quick and simple solution to this problem and here at Label Planet we provide parents with TWO different name label products to help them get ALL of their children’s belongings safely and securely labelled. Stikins ® are stick on name labels that are extremely quick and easy to apply and can be used to label pretty much ANY item of school uniform or equipment, while our Trons ® name transfers create a completely permanent name label on any fabric item.
Whether your school considers name labels to be a “recommended” or a “required” part of pupils’ school equipment, encouraging parents to use name labels is an easy way to cut down on the time and resources you waste dealing with Lost Property. At Label Planet, we also offer schools the chance to earn commission on orders of name labels placed by parents, with those funds being available for you to put towards any ongoing fundraising projects the school is pursuing. As part of this commission scheme, we also provide schools with free materials to distribute to parents, to help boost the number of parents who make the decision to use name labels (and so boost the number of children who arrive at school with all of their stuff labelled).
You can find out more about our name label products by visiting our Stikins ® Information Page and our Trons ® Information Page, or take a look through our Fundraising Pages to find out more about how our Fundraising Scheme works (or to sign up!).
Label Planet: Schools – Add Some Decoration To Your End Of Year Celebration With Brilliantly Bright Labels From Label Planet
For many schools, the end of the summer term signals the chance to reward pupils for their achievements throughout the school year and to make the most of the arrival of summer by holding events such as Sport’s Day and Summer Fairs (or Fayres!).
As part of these celebrations, many schools will be producing certificates and prizes to give to pupils who have achieved a particular level of success or progress, whether that is academic progress, meeting individual behavioural targets, or for sporting achievements and/or involvement in the performing arts – and we’ve got the perfect range of labels to create the perfect finishing “seal of approval” or to personalise each award in a fun and decorative way.
We highly recommend using our Coloured Labels, Fluorescent Labels, and our Gold & Silver Labels, where the different colours can be used to denote a particular level of achievement, success in a particular subject or area, or to represent the year group, class, team, or house of the recipient.
Our Gold Labels and Silver Labels are an easy and fun way to create a decorative “official seal” of commendation to denote if a person has attained one of two particular levels of achievement – for example, if they have are “First Place” or “Runner Up” in an event or subject or to denote that they are being rewarded for an “Excellent” level of achievement or a “Good” level of achievement.
Our Coloured and Fluorescent Labels are an ideal choice if you need to award prizes or certificates to a number of different groups, for different categories of achievement, or for different subjects or areas of achievement. For example, you might assign colours to specific subjects or departments (e.g. science awards are marked with a green label and performing arts awards are marked with a red label etc), select a range of colours to represent a range of achievement levels (e.g. red for “excellent”, orange for “very good”, and yellow for “good”), or use colours to specify a particular year group (e.g. a “junior” pupil might receive a certificate marked with a blue label, while a “senior” pupil receives a certificate marked with a yellow label).
You might also simply want to tailor your prizes and certificates to make them unique to your school by incorporating your school colours or to give pupils a fun celebratory token to mark their successes over the year by creating badges with positive and rewarding messages.
You could leave your labels blank and use them as “seals” or “marks” on your certificates, or you may wish to print them with the school logo/crest or with a symbol that denotes the area in which a pupil has succeeded or made significant progress. If you’ve had your certificates and prizes pre-printed (and you don’t fancy the prospect of handwriting each one with the name of the recipient), labels are also a fantastic way to quickly (and neatly) personalise a large number of rewards in time for your end of year celebrations and awards events.
Schools can order their labels from us online or by submitting an order by phone, email, or fax. Orders placed online are subject to “payment with order” terms, but local education authority schools may submit a purchase order to our Customer Service Team and request a 30-Day School Invoice.
You can find all of our brilliantly bright Coloured Labels, Fluorescent Labels, and Metallic Labels on our All Colours page; simply select the colour(s) that you want and then select the size(s) that you need.

Yes, this summer we’ve introduced brand new mixed packs of our Stikins ® name labels, so our customers can have the best of both worlds (and save some money in the process!).
As you may know, we currently offer Stikins ® in two colours: White and Silver. With our new combination packs you can now order packs with white AND silver Stikins ® - with a choice of either 240 labels for £18.50 (120 white and 120 silver) or 120 labels for £10.50 (60 white and 60 silver).
These packs mean you don’t have to choose between the two colours and you can have a few of both at a brilliant price that also saves you money!
Choosing a mixed pack also means you can get your children’s belongings organised; we have a number of parents who like to use the white Stikins ® on their children’s clothing and use the silver (more decorative) Stikins ® on the equipment and personal belongings that their children need (or want) to take to school – the silver labels are especially popular for use on lunch boxes and water bottles, and on personal devices (such as phones and tablets) where the white background tends to stand out a bit too much.
Visit our Stikins ® product page now to purchase your very own Stikins ® Super Pack (or, if you really don’t want both colours, take your pick from our original packs of just white or just silver Stikins ®).
Here at Label Planet, we like to provide our customers with the best possible range of options when it comes to choosing the perfect self adhesive label. One of these options is a choice between matt and gloss finishes – so here’s a short guide to all things matt and gloss!
What’s the difference?
The “finish” of a material refers to the qualities and properties of that material’s surface, including its appearance and texture.
Matt materials have a dull, non-shiny finish because they have surfaces that tend to diffuse light – as light reflects off a matt surface it spreads out over a wide area. By contrast, gloss finishes tend to have a smoother surface that reflects light much more efficiently, which creates a bright and shiny finish.
Why choose one over the other?
Generally, people choose one finish over the other as a matter of personal preference; usually it’s because the finish matches the surface they are labelling (a matt label for a matt surface & a gloss label for a gloss surface), because the finish is different to the surface they are labelling so the label stands out better (a matt label on a gloss surface & a gloss label on a matt surface), or because they want a particular appearance for their labels (some prefer the subtle look of a matt label while others want the decorative shine of a gloss label).
Which products have a matt finish and which products have a gloss finish?

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Label Planet’s Got Brand New (Stikins ®) Bags – And They’re Absolutely Fabulous!
This summer, we’ve added an extra burst of colour to orders of Stikins ® name labels by giving our Stikins ® bags a bit of a makeover.
As regular customers will know, each pack of Stikins ® that we despatch arrives individually packed in its own Stikins ® bag, which has our Instructions For Use printed on the back – so you can store your labels safely and securely in the knowledge that everything you need is kept together in one safe place.
Our brand new bags are just the same with TWO brilliant exceptions; firstly, we’ve added a handy box so you can also add your school’s Fundraising Number to your Stikins ® stash so you’ve got it to hand the next time you need to order!
Secondly (and perhaps more obviously), we’ve also made them purple!
We wanted to make our bags a bit more fun and exciting (to match our rather snazzy envelopes) and give our customers a really easy reminder that they’ve ordered Stikins ® from Label Planet!
These bags are also a really easy way to store any leftover Stikins ® for future use; we recommend keeping your spare Stikins ® in a dry place, out of direct sunlight, at room temperature to ensure they retain their original quality.
To place an order (and take a look at our brilliant new bags!), simply visit our Stikins ® product page to get started!
Summer is the time to get outside and thousands of individuals and organisations across the country will be arranging trips and events in the great outdoors, which means they’ll need labels that will survive in these conditions (whatever the weather decides to do)!
At Label Planet, we have a whole range of “weatherproof” labels that are designed to offer that extra bit of durability against the challenges of the natural world, which makes them the perfect option if you need your labels to be useful in the great outdoors (or even the great indoors if they are to be stored or used near water).
Our weatherproof labels are made using polyester or polyethylene, which are both highly durable, long lasting materials that offer the particularly useful property of being waterproof! Our waterproof range includes self adhesive labels with a variety of finishes and adhesives to help you find the one that’s perfect for your application:
We have waterproof labels in three different colours (white, off-white, and silver) along with three transparent products. Our white and off-white colours are ideal if you need a standard label with a solid background colour for your design to sit on, while the metallic finish of our silver polyester creates a decorative and professional finish that will really stand out from the surface background. If you need a label that is suitable for a transparent surface, that won’t cover up a decorative surface, or that will help avoid colour-matching issues, then our transparent labels are the perfect choice.
We also offer a choice of matt and gloss finishes, so you can choose the one that best suits the appearance that you want to create. Matt finishes have a duller, non-shiny finish, while gloss finishes have a bright, shiny finish. You may wish to choose a waterproof label that has a finish to match the surface you are labelling or you may wish to use a contrasting finish to help your label stand out. Both our transparent and white waterproof labels are available with either a matt or a gloss finish, while our silver waterproof labels have a matt metallic finish.
Our waterproof range includes THREE different adhesives, so you can choose the strength that best suits your needs. If you need your outdoor labels for temporary purposes (e.g. temporary signs that can be removed when an event finishes) and you don’t want them to do any damage when you remove them, you can opt for our removable transparent waterproof labels (GTR) or our removable white waterproof labels (MWR), which are both designed to provide good adhesion while the label is needed before removing cleanly and easily from the surface.
If you’re looking for a more permanent label that can survive outside, you can opt for one of our standard permanent waterproof adhesives, which are found on our gloss and matt transparent labels (GTP and MTP), our gloss white polyester labels (GWP), and our silver metallic polyester labels (SMP). Alternatively, if you’re looking for a really tough label that can truly take on the terrors of the great outdoors, then we recommend choosing either our matt white polyester labels (MWP) or our polyethylene labels (MWPE), which are both made using a marine standard waterproof adhesive; to achieve this standard, the adhesive has been immersed in sea water for 3 months, which makes it a perfect choice for use on outdoor labels.
It should be noted that all of these waterproof labels are listed as “Laser Labels” – meaning they are suitable for use with laser printers (but NOT with inkjet printers). Laser printers use a dry printing process to bond toner (a dry powder) onto the medium being printed using heat and pressure, which produces print that is waterproof. Inkjet printers use inks that are usually water-based, which means that they will run and smudge if they get wet or are handled a lot. We recommend using a laser printer to produce waterproof labels BUT if you only have access to an inkjet printer there are a couple of alternative options you could try:
- Source non-water-based inks that can produce waterproof print.
- Print labels using your inkjet printer and then source some transparent labels (or a sealant) that you can apply over your print to provide a protective waterproof coating.
Plus, if you’re looking to capitalise on the (hopefully) warmer weather with some delicious treats, we’ve got a wonderful range of Freezer Labels, which are perfect for getting all your frozen foods (and drinks) labelled up in time for some fun in the sun.
Our freezer labels are made of a matt white paper with a special Deep Freeze adhesive, which is designed specifically for use in freezer conditions (down to -40°C). These labels can be applied to items that are already frozen or that will be frozen at a later date and are ideal for creating product labels on food and drink products. We have eight stocked sizes, which are available to order in packs of 25 sheets for same day despatch, with a further 38 labels sizes available to order (with a minimum order quantity of 500 sheets and up to five working days for despatch).
To buy labels that can survive some fun in the sun (or an hour in a summer shower) get started by visiting our Waterproof Labels page to see all of the available options, or visit our Freezer Labels range page to find out more or to buy labels for your summer sweets.

Don’t worry if you don’t think you have time – it’s extremely quick and simple to request your samples and we get them printed and packed individually so they’re really easy to distribute quickly before the end of term.
You can request your samples by filling in our simple Online School Request Form or by getting in touch with our Customer Service Team. Simply let us know that you want to request your free samples and then send us an Excel spreadsheet with the names you need printing (please enter the first names in the first column and the surnames in the second column; if you are requesting samples for the whole school you can add the class or year groups in a third column and we’ll make sure your labels are packed into these groups for you).
We will only use this list for the purpose of printing your samples; as soon as your labels have been printed, the list will be completely deleted from our systems.
Sending out these samples is a wonderfully easy way to show parents exactly how easy it is to get into the habit of using name labels and how well they work when it comes to making sure that all of their children’s belongings make it home safe and sound – which reduces the amount of time and resources you have to waste on Lost Property and allows parents to avoid having to pay to replace items that are probably only a few months (or days!) old.
To request your free sample, please visit our School Request page or contact our Customer Service Team by phone or email.
People decide to print their own labels for a number of different reasons; for some it’s a financial decision (to avoid paying someone else to print labels on their behalf), others want to be able to control what is printed on their labels (as well as when and how many labels are produced at a time), and others want to make their own labels for a personal project (for example, as part of a particularly important event such as a big birthday, a special anniversary, or a wedding).
Producing your own labels, however, also means that you take on the responsibility (and challenges) of finding the perfect label for your particular application AND designing a template for those labels AND getting that template to print out properly on your labels.
With so many different label products available for customers to print themselves, it can be quite a difficult thing to decide which labels to choose – you need to consider if a particular product is the right size/colour/finish, if the material and adhesive are suitable for the application you have in mind, if the labels are compatible with your printer, and if the shape and size are right for what you need your label to do.
This is why we offer a free sample request service; customers can browse through the different options we offer, select the ones that they think are most suitable for their needs, and then ask for a sample. They can then test those particular labels to make sure that they will do the job in hand AND they can have a test run at designing and printing their own label template.
We recently updated our online sample request form to make it even more helpful to customers who are choosing and printing their own labels; if you’re not sure which samples to ask for, you can simply let us know what sort of label you are looking for and we’ll select the best options on your behalf. We recommend being as specific as you can with the samples that you request so we can make sure that the labels we send out are the most suitable ones for the label application you have in mind. For example, we ask you to let us know what kind of printer you have, what material types and adhesive strengths you prefer, what you will be using the labels for / what you will be sticking the labels onto, and any shape or size requirements that you have – using this information, we can select the best options for your label application (making sure that they’re compatible with your printer and are made with a material and adhesive that will meet the requirements of the application).
To request a sample from Label Planet, simply visit our Samples Page and fill in our online request form OR get in touch with our Customer Service Team by phone or by email to request a sample pack.

Stikins ® & Trons ®: Stikins ® Name Labels; The Truly Multipurpose Name Label That Simply Sticks In & Stays In
While traditional name labels have always tended to be iron on or sew in labels that can only be used to label school uniform, our brilliant Stikins ® name labels are a truly modern alternative that are a handy helper for any busy household.
These labels are truly multipurpose and are a one-step name label solution to make sure that ALL of your child’s belongings make it safely home from school day after day after day, including their school uniform, shoes and bags, P.E. kits and equipment, books and stationery, and all those “essential” extras that they just have to have with them.
Designed with busy parents in mind and developed using the latest materials and manufacturing processes, Stikins ® name labels are the perfect solution to the problem of labelling school uniform (and equipment) quickly and easily, and can help save parents a lot of time (and money) to get on with the more fun things in life.
Our name labels are made with specially developed, highly advanced materials that allow these labels to simply stick in and stay in – with absolutely no sewing or ironing required. Stikins ® simply peel off their backing sheet and adhere firmly onto the wash-care label of garments (and other fabric items) or directly onto any equipment and personal belongings that your child needs (or wants) to keep with them. The softness and pliability of these labels mean that they won’t cause any irritation or discomfort – even if your child has sensitive skin – and the print is produced using an advanced ink that is fully resistant to market-leading sun creams and lotions (which may break down the print used on other name label products), which means that these labels will remain firmly in place and fully legible all year round.
Stikins ® are designed to withstand not only the stresses and strains of everyday life but also the rough and tumble of the endless cycle of washing and (tumble) drying required to keep school uniform fresh and tidy AND they can be used on items that will be put in the microwave or dishwasher (so there’s no chance of your child losing their lunch box and/or water bottle).
The bold, clear black font means that these labels are extremely easy to read when items get lost or misplaced and they can be printed with all kinds of useful information including a name and contact information, or even practical extras such as medical or allergy information.
Instead of buying separate sets of labels for use on clothing, shoes and bags, lunch boxes and water bottles, and other personal belongings, parents can simply buy a single pack of Stikins ® and get everything labelled in one go!
To find out more about these brilliant little labels you can visit our Stikins ® Information page for more detailed information about our product, or you can visit our Stikins ® product page to read over 1,100 independent product reviews (and over 2,500 merchant reviews) from parents across the country who have already given our products a very thorough testing. Alternatively, you can visit our Stikins ® product page to place an order for name labels today!
Label Planet: Cool Down This Summer With Freezer Labels For All Your Delicious Treats & Sumptuous Snacks!
Regardless of what the weather is doing, the summer months are the perfect excuse to indulge in delightful deserts and refreshing beverages. With all kinds of fantastic treats appearing just in time for the summer holidays, it’s the perfect time to get your hands on our fantastic freezer labels so all of your summer delights are labelled up and ready to go.
Our freezer labels are made with matt white paper and a special permanent adhesive, designed specifically for use in “deep freeze” conditions. These labels can be applied onto items that will be chilled or frozen at a later date OR onto items that are already chilled or frozen and (once applied) can survive exposure to temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C, which makes them perfect for use as product labels on food and drink goods that need to be kept cool or frozen. The adhesive also conforms to the German BgVV for indirect food contact and short term contact with dry and moist foods, which makes these labels an ideal way to safely and securely label frozen food and drink products.
The range includes 8 stocked sizes, which are available to order in packs of 25 sheets for same day despatch, and a further 38 sizes available to order (minimum order quantity of 500 sheets and up to 5 working days for despatch). Our freezer labels make it extremely quick and simple to create your own labels for foodstuffs, whether you’re an individual making homemade treats for friends and family or a company looking for a simple and cost effective way to get your goods labelled.
These freezer labels can be printed with a laser printer or handwritten – as long as you take care to choose a waterproof pen to prevent your writing running or smudging if it is exposed to condensation.
We do not advise that you print these labels with an inkjet printer, as the inks used for inkjet printing are usually water-based, which will cause them to run or smudge if they get wet through contact with condensation or if they are handled frequently.
We are often asked if we supply waterproof freezer labels to help avoid the issue of paper wrinkling when condensation forms; we have researched the possibility of offering such a product BUT because the majority of our customers use these labels on food products and need to keep their costs down as much as possible, the cost of having freezer labels made using waterproof materials would make them too expensive to be a genuine option for these customers.
To get your summer snacks safely and securely labelled in time for some grand adventures in the summer sun (or showers), visit our Freezer Labels range page to select the size and quantity you need.

Label Planet: Trouble With Your Templates After Upgrading To Windows 10? Try These 3 Troubleshooting Tips!
With Microsoft pushing users of its Windows operating system to upgrade to Windows 10, you may have recently decided to take the plunge and upgrade – or you may have found yourself on the receiving end of an enforced upgrade. While some go through the process quite smoothly, others will find that they run into problems – one of which may be that the label templates they’ve been using for months or even years without issue are now failing to print correctly.
We’ve had a few calls from customers who have experienced problems with their templates after upgrading to Windows 10 and so we’ve done some research to find out what is going on and, more importantly, what solutions are available to fix these problems. For most people, the upgrade to Windows 10 doesn’t appear to cause any issues until they try to print their templates; while these templates look fine on the “Print Preview” screen, once printed out the alignment gets progressively worse going down the page. If you experience this problem, we have a shortlist of troubleshooting tips that should fix the issue:
TIP NO. 1: Check The Page Size Of Your Label Template
The Cause Of The Problem:
During the upgrade, Microsoft Word may have returned to default settings and is now using the US page size (American Letter) instead of A4 – which will cause your printer to try to print your template to a page size that is wider and shorter than your label sheets.
- Go to the “Print Preview” screen (click “File” > “Print”) and click on “Page Setup” (towards the bottom of the screen).
- Click on the “Paper” tab and check that “Paper Size” is set to A4, with a width of 210mm and a height of 297mm.
TIP NO. 2: Check Your Printer’s Settings
The Cause Of The Problem:
Upgrading to Windows 10 may also reset your printer to default settings, which can change the page size it uses and can cause your printer to ignore the settings you are selecting (using a default set from your printer driver instead).
- Go to the “Print Preview” screen (click “File” > “Print”) and click on “Printer Properties” (towards the top of the screen).
- Check that “Page Size”/”Page Layout”/”Media Size”/”Media Layout” is set to A4. Double check that no scaling options such as “Fit To Page” or “Resize To Fit To Page” are selected.
- Look for any options such as “Use Driver Settings” or “Ignore Print Settings”, which may cause your printer to ignore the settings you are entering in favour of using the default driver settings.
TIP NO. 3: Update Your Printer Driver
The Cause Of The Problem:
Since the launch of Windows 10, many printer manufacturers have created new printer drivers to ensure that their printers continue to work correctly with the new operating system; the printer driver is a piece of software run by your printer, which converts the data (files) that you send to your printer into a form that your printer can then process and print. Unfortunately, these new printer drivers are not installed as part of the upgrade to Windows 10 so you may need to do this yourself after upgrading to allow you to print your label templates correctly.
- Windows 10 automatically checks for, downloads, and installs new drivers for the majority of devices (including printers), so all you should need to do is run Windows Update to update your printer driver.
- Click on “Start” > “Settings” > “Update and Recovery” and then select “Check For Updates”.
- Through Device Manager
Click “Start”, type “Device Manager” into the search bar, and select it from the results. Expand the categories to find your printer, then right click and select “Update Driver Software”. Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software” (but be aware this may take some time to complete!).
- Through the Manufacturer’s Website
Printer drivers can usually be found in the “Support” section; while all websites will vary slightly, you will usually need to enter the model/make of your printer and then select the appropriate driver for the version of Windows you are using. Follow the instructions on the website to download and install the driver.
- Click “Start”, type “Devices and Printers” into the search bar, and select it from the results.
- Click on your printer and select “Remove device” to uninstall your printer.
- Follow the installation process to reinstall your printer (with the latest printer driver).
At Label Planet, we have created a Template Section on our website, which gives our customers access to Word Templates for ALL of our label sizes and products, completely free of charge.
