Label Planet: Set Lasers to "Labels" - printer settings

Most laser printers have a specific "labels" setting that is to be used when printing labels. This setting will make certain key changes to how the printer works to ensure the best print results for labels.

Printers that are intended for office or home use will be designed with printing onto paper as the primary purpose. This means that the default settings will be set to provide the best print results on standard paper (80gsm). However, the printers will also be set up with additional, specific settings that can be used when people need to print other materials and items, such as labels, envelopes, or card.

These settings can usually be applied by clicking on the "Printer Properties" or "Printer Settings" button/link that appears on the print preview screen that can be seen before you print.

When the "labels" setting is applied, the printer slows down and the temperature of the fuser unit is altered. This supplies more energy to the labels, which allows the toner to bond correctly with the labels.
